Sounds good to me however, my wife cannot eat tomatoes in any shape or form. What would you use for a substitute for the tomatoes?

I made this stew for company and they gobbled it up--though I don't know the value of using brisket. It was pricey to buy. I thought any beef roast would work just as well. I think sweet potatoes, peeled and cut in large chunks could be substituted easily for the butternut. I love butternut, but it requires parboiling to peel eaily, so is more laborous to prepare then just using a peeler on a couple sweet potatoes. I used recommendations to sear meat first and to cut squash in large chunks, which worked well.

Very good. I agree with the person who wrote that the butternut squash was too soft, only because I like my vegetables crisp tender, which is hard to do in a crock pot. I enjoyed the flavor combinations of beef, tomatoes, butternut squash. Pulling the beef was a bit time consuming but probably tasted much better (more tender) that way.

I almost didn't make this because of the previous scathing review. But I did and served it at a family gathering. The family loved it! It doesn't look so good cooking, but when it's all done it looks and tasts great. I will definitely make it again.

The most disgusting thing I've ever put on the table. No flavor and I have no idea how to even improve it. Never, ever again will I make this!!!

Overall this was a good dish, but way too much liquid and mushy squash. So I suggest only 1 cup beef broth, one 14oz can tomatoes and cut squash into huge chunks.

My family and friends thought this was excellent. And the leftovers were even better (after all the flavors sat and married). Will definitely be making this again....thank you Pillsbury :)

This was very good. I added two sweet potatoes and one can of drained peas. My family loved it.

This was delicious. I salt and peppered and pan seared the brisket before putting it into the crock pot. My guests gobbled it up and asked for the recipe to take home with them.
