I made this about a month ago and my boyfriend and his daughter who does not like pork loved it. Am making it again this weekend.

Good, but maybe adding a little brown sugar would make it a little better. It just seemed to be missing something...

My hubby said it was restaurant quality pork barbecue and he should know as he is a restaurant manager! Not a lot of root beer flavor but delicious! Will definitely make it again!

As I am highly allergic to tomato anything, I am excited to find alternatives, as pulled pork is one of my favorite foods. Dr Pepper works really good too, now I can give root beer a try.

Guess I should have read the entire recipe first. I made it with diet root beer( I'm diabetic) After reading that I should have used regular root beer I added about 1/4 cup of honey. It was delicious, don't know how it should have been, but was great with the diet and honey. Will DEFINATELY make it again.

Try this: Buy a bottle of bbq sauce (or make your own root beer bbq sauce).
Take a pork shoulder roast. 3 1/2 - 4 pounds. Put it in the crock pot DRY (no water, no seasoning, nothing) for 10 hours (or longer, it doesn't matter). Open the lid, take two forks and "pull" the pork apart.
Stir in the bottle of bbq sauce. Put the pork on Buns. Garnish with prepared cole slaw.
So easy. Makes 6 or 8 sandwiches.

I would have liked more root beer flavor but couldn't find root beer concentrate. I also could not get the sauce to thicken as I cooked it down.

I've made this before and didn't use everyting that was listd. I just used the rootbeer and seasoned the meat with a little pepper. After it was finished, I disgarded the root beer, pulled the pork and used one bottle of BBQ sauce. It is just delicious. I've made it several times and have always received raves

If you are diabetic, or only have diet root beer on hand, mix 1Tbsp cornstarch with 1 Tbsp water and add to sauce before it boils. This will help thicken the sauce without the sugar.
