large onion, chopped (1 cup)

medium carrots, sliced (1 cup)

can (4 oz) Green Giant® mushroom pieces and stems, drained

lb boneless beef round steak, cut into serving-size pieces

teaspoon pepper

can (18 oz) Progresso® Vegetable Classics creamy mushroom soup

can (8 oz) tomato sauce

  • 1 In 3- to 4-quart slow cooker, layer onion, carrots, mushrooms and beef. Sprinkle pepper over beef. In medium bowl, mix soup and tomato sauce; pour over beef.
  • 2 Cover; cook on Low heat setting 8 to 10 hours.
  • 3 Place beef on serving platter. With slotted spoon, remove vegetables from cooker and spoon over beef. Stir gravy in cooker with wire whisk to blend. Serve gravy with beef.

There is plenty of yummy gravy to serve over mashed potatoes or hot noodles. Coleslaw completes the meal.

To save time, measure out 1 cup of purchased frozen chopped onion the night before, and place in the refrigerator to thaw.

Very good slow cooker recipe! The gravy is great over mashed potatoes and husband pleasing. I used one can of cream of mushroom soup and 1 can of crean of celery soup along with the 8 oz. of tomatoe sauce. About the last 1/2 hour I added 1 can of sweet peas. Made a colorful dish on the table.
