EXPERT TIPS

Expert Tips

Be sure to cut the beef into pieces of the same size to ensure that all the beef cooks evenly and is tender.

When using a slow cooker, don't lift the lid during cooking unless necessary; removing the lid allows steam that is vital to the cooking process to escape.

I was very disappointed with this recipe. Everything smelled fabulous, but when it came time to eat this it tasted more like a beef/broccoli stew with teriyaki flavor. It seems as if the required cooking time was too long (cooked at low for 8hrs before adding the broccoli). The beef had completely fallen apart.

Easy recipe, I did modify slightly by adding a bit of some sauces I had on hand: soy, hoisen, oyster. Next time I'll add some bamboo shoots in the last 10 minutes just to give it a bit more texture.
