Yes it was very bland! I even cooked bacon with it, and added cream of cheddar. Didn't thicken at all with just the flour!

I used diced potatoes with onions mixed in. The potatoes were hard and that was with it cooking for 6 hrs. I would boil potatoes ahead of time and then make as recipe calls for. Also, it did not thicken with flour, had to transfer over to a pot and add corn starch to thicken. I agree it was very bland.

Three of four in the family liked it, and the one is a notoriously fussy. I did make it more of a meal by adding 2 cups of leftover ham cubed instead of just bacon. I also near the end lightly ran my masher through. It didn't hurt the celery, and it really helped the thickening process tremendously. I garnished with about a teaspoon of cheese in a pile in the middle. Tasty!

This was good, but a little bland. I would fry up some sausage, drain and add it. A Italian sausage would spice it up nicely. I plan on doing this with my leftovers.

I made this and my husband and I loved it! Using frozen hash browns makes it so easy.

A stalk of celery is the whole thing, a rib of celery is from the stalk. Just sayin.

This sounds almost just like the homemade potato soup my mom used to make. I can't wait to try it.

This soup is absolutely so easy you wont believe it!! I have made it over and over again, everybody I have made it for loves it sooooo much they ask for it over and over. Easy, Easy. I use real potatoes and cut them up and real onion. One of the great recipes on here. I would give it 10 stars **********
