Slow-Cooker Beef and Bean Chili

Ingredients

tablespoon olive or vegetable oil

large onion, coarsely chopped (1 cup)

teaspoons finely chopped garlic

tablespoons chili powder

tablespoon ground cumin

teaspoon salt

lb beef stew meat
2
cans (15 oz each) Progresso™ black beans, drained, rinsed
2
cans (14.5 oz each) diced tomatoes with green chiles, undrained
1/2
cup water

Directions

  1. 1 In 12-inch skillet, heat oil over medium-high heat. Add onions and garlic; cook 4 to 5 minutes, stirring frequently, until onions are softened.
  2. 2 Stir in chili powder, cumin, salt, pepper and beef. Cook 6 to 8 minutes, stirring occasionally, until beef is lightly browned.
  3. 3 In 3- to 4-quart slow cooker, place beef mixture. Stir in beans, tomatoes and water.
  4. 4 Cover; cook on Low heat setting 8 to 10 hours. Stir well before serving.
