For diabetics cook the pasta in its own pot and then add to the soup this keeps the starch down and if you rinse the pasta first that will reduce it even more

Just a reminder to anyone who is unfamiliar with using a slow cooker with ground beef: absolutely cook the beef fully first, in a conventional pan (as the recipe does say). My husband once decided to make a similar recipe and was unaware that you cannot safely cook raw ground beef in a crock-pot. So, thinking it was fool proof and easy, he put it in the pot by itself, left it for a few hours, and ended up with utterly spoiled hamburger. There was no soup to be made after that! As for this recipe, haven't tried it yet, but will; sounds great.

DO NOT cook the posta with the slower cooker. Cook it in it's own pot, for it turns in to mush if you cook it the other way.

I tried this recipe for a fund raiser for the local human society and it was a welcome addition to the annual soup supper. It is so easy to put together and with the useage of the slow cooker no trouble at all to cook. Great for anytime. Everyone who did the taste testing said that this would be one they would try at home.
