These baked beans made with canned beans come together quickly, then the slow cooker steps in and blends the flavors over six or more hours.

Ingredients

lb. bacon, diced
1/2
cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/4
cup cornstarch

teaspoon dry mustard
1/2
cup molasses
1
tablespoon vinegar

(16-oz.) cans baked beans
1
medium onion, chopped
1
green bell pepper, chopped

Steps

  • 1 In large skillet over medium heat, cook bacon until crisp. Drain, reserving 2 tablespoons drippings.
  • 2 In 3 1/2- to 4-quart slow cooker, combine bacon, reserved drippings and all remaining ingredients; mix well. Cover; cook on high setting for 1 hour.
  • 3 Reduce heat to low setting; cook an additional 5 to 7 hours.
