Expert Tips

Slightly undercook the rotini for perfect al dente pasta in casseroles.

Like things spicy? Use 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes with green chiles instead of plain diced tomatoes.

I definately liked this. I made a few changes though. In mine I also put Italian seasoning in the hamburger then added the cooked pasta to the skillet and covered. Let simmer for 20-25 minutes till the liquid reduced then I put in the cheddar cheese and I added Parmesan cheese. Done. No need to turn on the oven and is even simpler. Just be sure if your using a 80/20 hamburger to drain the fat after cooking before adding the tomatoes, sauce, pasta and cheeses.

THE KIDS LOVE THIS We use colore pasta, the ones with the veggies in them but dont tell the kids lol, and make it like a casserole. Mix some cheddar cheese in to bind it together and the rest of the cheese goes on top. Pop it in the oven till the cheese is melted. It is awesome. The kids get their veggies and dont even know it!

My mother also made this and all of us have made a similar dish. We called it slop. Not an appetizing name but somehow it stuck. This is great if served the second day. I would wait to add the cheese until it is reheated.
