Set out this elegant mix for an early evening cocktail party. Handle the corn syrup mixture carefully--cooked sugar can cause burns very easily.

cup dry sherry

tablespoons corn syrup

tablespoons butter

cups walnut halves
2
cups cashew halves

Steps

  • 1 Heat oven to 250°F. Line 15x10x1-inch baking pan with foil. In large skillet, combine brown sugar, cinnamon, sherry, corn syrup and butter. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly. Stir in walnuts and cashews; cook and stir 4 to 7 minutes or until liquid is absorbed. Spread nuts in foil-lined pan.
  • 2 Bake at 250°F. for 15 to 20 minutes or until glazed. Cool completely on foil. Store tightly covered.
