Sausage with Apple-Topped Pancakes

Ingredients

  • 6 oz bulk pork sausage
  • 1/3 cup maple-flavored syrup
  • 2 tablespoons butter or margarine, softened
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 medium apple
  • 6 pancakes from 1 box (16.4 oz) frozen Pillsbury™ Buttermilk Pancakes (12 Count)

    Heat closed contact grill 5 minutes. Meanwhile, shape sausage into 2 patties.

    In 2-cup glass measuring cup, mix syrup, butter and cinnamon. Core and slice apple.

    When grill is heated, place sausage patties on lower part of grill surface and apple slices on upper part of grill; close grill. Cook 4 to 5 minutes or until sausage is no longer pink in center.

    Meanwhile, microwave syrup mixture on High 45 to 60 seconds or until heated; set aside. Microwave pancakes as directed on box.

    Place sausage patties on serving plates. Stir apple slices into syrup mixture. Arrange 3 pancakes on each plate with sausage. Spoon apples with syrup over pancakes.

  • Sausage links or patties can also be used. Just overlap apple slices on the grill so they are about the same thickness as the patties or links. Thaw sausage before cooking.
