I have not made this recipe. I don't see why some people seems having difficulty getting the ground sausage. All they have to do is use the Italian sausages, make a cut lengthwise, remove the skin and cook the sausage.

Avon23, if you don't like parmesan cheese, try any of the other hard cheeses like Romano. But I bet you and your family would like Asiago cheese the best. It is mild and still terrific for this recipe. If you don't care for those, try provolone or fontina.

I have tried this but instead of the other cheese I just used cream of mushroom soup and blended it with the cream cheese. and it was really good.

My family was not a fan. I think the cottage cheese was the problem. I will make it again but go lighter o the spinach and maybe use ricotta instead of cottage cheese.

Quick question: My family and I do not care for Parmesan cheese. What could be used in its place?

Cathyann204, I made ahead of time and then just place in stove for 10 minutes to warm up. I had already baked the night before
stepaka, Yes, you can find ground turkey sauage (like ground hamburger meat) in the meat section. Just make sure package says "Turkey Sausage", or they might have the large sausages where you just cut the casing of the sausage and use the inside meat.

Quick question: Can I prep this ahead of time and cook it just before my holiday gathering?

So I officially made this dish and it was great. I made it for my parents and brother (who is a huge food critique). Here are some alterations I made and how it worked for me:
1. I couldn't find Italian turkey sausage so I used jimmy deans Italian pork sausage.
2. I had trouble stretching out the dough to 13x9. So when it was time to fold it over, the dough wouldn't reach. Luckily I purchased two crescent roll packs to accomplish this. I placed the other pack across the top and braided the two together on the sides.
3. I used shredded mozzarella and sliced provolone. Yum.

A friend of mine brought this dish to a party tonight and it was AMAZING. I immediately got online to find it. I'm going to attempt it myself. It looks beautiful and tastes great. I definitely recommend it.

Have not yet made but looks good and quite easy. Disappointed that website would not remove so many of the repetitive reviews posted by blairvassar. No need for so many stating identical thing.
