Tips from the Pillsbury Kitchens

  • tip 1
Sauerbraten, a German specialty, is made by soaking beef roast in a sweet-and-sour marinade for two to three days. The roast is browned, then simmered in the marinade, which often contains gingersnaps. The beef-simmered marinade makes a delicious sauce for the roast. Traditionally, sauerbraten is served with dumplings, noodles or boiled potatoes.
  • tip 2
There are several brands of beef gravy available, including some that are very low in fat.
