I made these cookies last night and they were a hit!! Absolutely loved them! I wasn't sure about the salt on top but it added another layer of flavor and was just delicious and my family did not know it was salt until I told them. This will definitely be one of our family favorites from now on!!

These do sound good! I have made a similar recipe, and I used Hershey's treasures, the caramel ones, and cut them in half, they are better tasting than Rolo's, and creamier too!

You will need to firm up the balls before you put the caramels in--the dough will be too gooey to work with after the forming of the dough into the balls. The truffle part of the recipe--the addition of cream and cocoa to the cookie dough will make the dough sticky and loose if that makes sense.

I initially thought of Riesen chewy chocolate caramels. Rolos make more sense because they're much softer. Thanks for posting.

It seems like the directions are somewhat out of order. I would think that you'd want to form the cookie dough around the candy center BEFORE you freeze the balls.

The round chewy caramels shown in the step-by-step photos of this recipe look like Rolos. That's what I'm using too.

to creo6746 I think it's safe to say that ROLOs are the way to go. At least, that's the way I'm going to go! Can't wait to make them for the holidays!!

These look super yummy! Can't wait to make them. Just curious though, the "round chewy caramels in milk chocolate" am I safe to assume that means ROLO Caramels in Milk Chocolate?? Anyone have any other thoughts?
