I wonder if I could use beef broth instead of the beer...any thoughts? Thank you.

I do NOT think this recipe sounds confusing at all. It CLEARLY states in the ingredient list: "3/4 cup dry potato mix," AND "2 cups PREPARED mashed potatoes." Then in the DIRECTIONS, it states to mix the soup, beer, and dry potato flakes. THEN spread 1 cup of the prepared mashed potatoes on each crust, topping with the soup MIXTURE. To me, that is pretty darn clear.

Takes 2 cups mashed potatoes. Makes 2 pies. Clearly directions state. Remove pie crust(2)and place each(1)on cookie sheet, and spread one cup mashed potatoes on each (2) then divide the soup. You will have 2 YUMMY pies when done.

interestingly enough.. i have to side with Soozie.. only because of this statement in the directions "Spoon 1 cup mashed potatoes on center of each crust, spreading to within 2 inches of edge. Top with soup mixture"...... so if you mix the dry potato mix into the beer and soup- where did the extra cup of mashed potatoes come from? i've read and re-read this a few times to let it sink in but i saw the same misleading direction.. but- the meal looks good and it's easy to improvise and make it work.

This was easy to make and looked great for presentation but personally I felt that the beer made it bitter. Waiting for my husband to get home and try it since stout beer his more his thing than mine. I think this is a great base recipe to build off of though. I might experiment with other soups/fillings in the future.

I agree, the recipe clearly says to mix the beer, the soup and the dry potatoes, it does not seem confusing to me at all.

to the first reviewer, as it says in step one, mix beer, soup and potato flakes.
