Rum Raisin Caramel Sauce

Scrumptious over ice cream, this amber-colored sauce makes a wonderful gift. Ladle the sauce into decorative half-pint jars and include a "store in refrigerator" reminder on the label.

Ingredients

cup butter or margarine
1 1/2
cups firmly packed brown sugar
2
tablespoons light corn syrup
1/2
cup whipping cream
1/2
cup raisins
1/8
teaspoon rum extract
  • 1 Melt butter in medium saucepan. Stir in brown sugar and syrup. Bring to a boil. Cook until sugar is dissolved, stirring constantly. Stir in whipping cream; return to a boil. Remove from heat. Stir in raisins and rum extract. Serve warm over ice cream or dessert. Store in refrigerator.
