Ingredients

  • 14 unpeeled garlic cloves
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened

Steps

  • 1
Heat oven to 400°F. Wrap garlic cloves in foil. Bake 40 minutes or until very soft. Open foil; cool 5 minutes or until cool to touch.
  • 2
Slip garlic cloves from skins into small bowl; discard skins. Mash cloves with fork; beat in butter until light and fluffy. Store in refrigerator up to 2 weeks.

Tips from the Pillsbury Kitchens

  • tip 1
Roasting garlic releases its sweetness and makes the garlic mellow and mild.
  • tip 2
When unpeeled garlic cloves are roasted, it’s easy to squeeze them between your fingers so the soft garlic pops out.
  • tip 3
Serve this spread with Cornmeal Sage Scones for a special dinner party.
