Red Cabbage with Apples

medium unpeeled tart cooking apples, sliced

medium head red cabbage, coarsely shredded (8 cups)

cup red wine vinegar

  • 1 Melt butter in Dutch oven over medium heat. Cook apples in butter 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • 2 Stir in remaining ingredients. Heat to boiling; reduce heat. Cover and simmer 35 to 40 minutes or until cabbage is tender.
