Raspberry Dessert Sauce

If you´ve ever wondered how they make that delicious ruby-hued raspberry sauce that graces desserts in posh restaurants, this recipe will show you how easy it is. Ladle some sauce onto a dessert plate and top with angel food cake, or spoon it over ice cream, cheesecake or bread pudding.

Ingredients

cups fresh or frozen raspberries, thawed

cup cranberry juice cocktail

tablespoons sugar

teaspoons cornstarch
  • 1 In blender container or food processor bowl with metal blade, combine raspberries and juice cocktail. Cover; blend until smooth. Press mixture through strainer into medium saucepan to remove seeds; discard seeds. Add sugar and cornstarch; blend well.
  • 2 Cook over medium heat until mixture boils and thickens slightly, stirring constantly. Remove from heat. Cool at least 1 hour before serving.
