cups all-purpose flour

oz. (1 cup) shredded sharp or medium Cheddar cheese

tablespoon sugar

teaspoon baking powder
1/2
teaspoon baking soda
1/2
teaspoon salt
1/2
teaspoon coarse ground black pepper

cup buttermilk
1/3
cup margarine or butter, melted
2
eggs

Directions

  1. 1 Heat oven to 350°F. Grease bottom only of 9x5 or 8x4-inch loaf pan. In medium bowl, combine flour, cheese, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt and pepper; mix well.
  2. 2 In small bowl, combine buttermilk, margarine and eggs; blend well. Add to flour mixture; stir just until dry ingredients are moistened. Pour into greased pan.
  3. 3 Bake at 350°F. for 35 to 45 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool 15 minutes; remove from pan. Serve warm or cool completely on wire rack. Wrap tightly and store in refrigerator.
