Chinese five-spice powder contains equal amounts of ground cinnamon, cloves, fennel seeds, star anise and Szechuan peppercorns. The sweet-hot combination is used extensively in Chinese cooking.
To serve this dish Chinese-style, divide the cooked rice between single-serving bowls and place a bowl of rice near each dinner plate. Spoon the Pork with Plum Sauce onto a large platter and let guests serve themselves.
