When adding pecans to your pie, try adding one of the following for variety:
- Fresh cranberries
- Mini chocolate chips
- Butterscotch chips
- Toffee baking pieces
- Golden raisins
For more variety, stir one of these flavorings into the pecan pie filling:
- 1 tsp. vanilla (if not already called for in recipe)
- ½ tsp. almond extract
- ¼ cup Khalua
- 2 tbsp. bourbon
- 2 tbsp. dark rum
You can also substitute richer dark corn syrup for light corn syrup in the recipe, so you will make a pecan pie that is darker and richer looking with a slight molasses taste.
