Excellent pie, however I dotted the whole pie with 2 tablespoons of butter on top of mixed apples before I put the top crust on. It was even more delicious. Gave it a richer flavor...........

I never was a pie baker until I saw this recipe and decided to try it. It was so simple and so good; a little time consuming to slice all the apples but well worth it! Might try the pie filling next time!

Foodjunky, don't feel bad. We've all done something like that. It's worth a good laugh, and you won't do it the next time. Just call it your "ALL NATURAL APPLE PIE". My daughter once added a full cup of ground coffe to an Italian cookie recipe that called for a cup of (brewed) coffee. It was a huge recipe, but my son and his friends ate them to stay awake while studying for exams in December. LOL

sallymc This is the greatest. Been using this recipe for several years and I get requested to make it over and over again. The Pillsbury pie crust makes it so easy to throw together. I sometimes add raisins for those who like them. It is a favorite in our family.

For a great Fall pie, add a cup of fresh or frozen cranberries! They give a great tartness to the sweet of the pie!

A real favorite in England is to add about one cup to one and a half cups of blackberries. Great combination
