I made these and thought that I could switch the sugar to crushed candy canes, thinking that this would make it tasted even more pepperminty and also be cute alternative to the sugar. WRONG!! It ended up melting and having the cookies stick to the pan. THEN, it says it put kisses on as soon as they come out of the oven. DO NOT DO THAT! Take them off the pan onto a cooling rack, let them sit for a minute, then apply kisses. My first batch turned out horrible and melted, but my second batch turned out great! They were a big hit at my grandparents!

I found the dough at Jewel (Albertsons) in the Chicago area.I made these cookies tonite and they turned out pretty good. I agree the recipe is confusing, but it is easy enough to figure out you need to add the flour and then roll the balls in sugar.
I did not get the 72 cookies as it suggested. More like 36 and the cookies were just average sized. Not sure why that happened. I would make these again, but next time I would frost them with the Pillsbury PEPPERMINT frosting that we found at Walmart!!!

I found the peppermint sugar cookie dough at Safeway. I am in Washington and don't know if you have a Safeway in CA. Hopefully this helps.

I agree. I can't find the dough either. Will have to use the recipe from the bag of candy!
