Ingredients

SAUCE
1
tablespoon unsalted butter
2
tablespoons finely chopped shallots
1/2
cup beef broth
1/4
cup brandy or beef broth
1/4
cup whipping cream
1
(4.5-oz.) jar whole mushrooms, drained
STEAK
1
(13-oz.) beef T-bone or rib steak (3/4 inch thick)
2

1
tablespoon assorted whole peppercorns, crushed

Directions

  1. 1 Melt butter in small saucepan over medium-high heat. Add shallots; cook and stir 1 to 2 minutes or until tender.

  3. 3 Brush both sides of steak with oil. Coat steak with peppercorns, pressing into steak. Place steak on broiler pan.
  4. 4 Broil 3 to 4 inches from heat for about 5 minutes or until steak is browned. Turn steak; broil 5 to 10 minutes or until of desired doneness. Serve sauce over steak.
