Ingredients

Base

(18.25-oz.) pkg. yellow cake mix with pudding in the mix
1/2
cup margarine or butter, softened
1
egg

Filling

1
(14-oz.) can sweetened condensed milk (not evaporated)
1
teaspoon vanilla
1
egg
1
(6-oz.) pkg. chocolate-coated toffee bits
1
cup chopped pecans

  • 1 Heat oven to 350°F. Grease 13x9-inch pan. In large bowl, combine cake mix, margarine and 1 egg; mix well with pastry blender or fork. Press mixture in bottom of greased pan. Bake at 350°F. for 7 minutes.
  • 2 Meanwhile, in medium bowl, combine condensed milk, vanilla and 1 egg; mix well. Stir in toffee bits and pecans.
  • 3 Remove pan from oven. Pour filling evenly over warm base. Return to oven; bake an additional 22 to 30 minutes or until filling is set. Cool 1 hour or until completely cooled. Cut into bars. Store in refrigerator.

Pecan Toffee Squares If you can't find chocolate-coated toffee bits, coarsely chop four 1.4-ounce chocolate-covered toffee bars. Chop them by hand or place the bars in the food processor and pulse until they are coarsely chopped.

I got this recipe from my aunt many, many years ago and have made it several hundred times since then. It is one of the best. I could eat the whole pan myself!! No matter where I bring these bars, I get raves and everyone wants the recipe.

This was absolutely delicious! I baked up a tray of these and brought them into work, and everybody asked for the recipe! I did make one slight change though- I added Southern Comfort to the filling mixture, and the overall result was absolutely divine! I will be making this again!
