My mother made this for the fair this year and we got to take it home to try it afterwords. It is a good pie for the fall with it's flavors. She used ripe bartlet pears for it and tured out great! She's making one for Thanksgiving.

I love the flavors in this pie, but the pears did not bake to the softness we like in the time given. I guess that time depends on the pear one uses. Please specify which pear should be used for a baking time of 35 - 45 min. Our tree is an autumn pear, the Bradford, which is way too firm for that short a baking time. Later, after I have fully ripened the pears, perhaps I will be happier with this recipe.

Just made this pie. Have made thousands of pies, but this is one of the best. Try using a graham cracker crust, fresh lemon zest and fresh grated ginger. We can't get enough of this one and you won't be able to either. Thanks Pillsbury.
