Orchard Dip

Have apples fresh from the orchard? Make this warm, spiced apple dip - a perfect appetizer when served with pita chips or spread on crackers.

cups finely chopped peeled Granny Smith apples (about 2 medium)

cup packed brown sugar

teaspoons cornstarch

tablespoon fresh lemon juice

teaspoon ground cinnamon

tablespoon butter or margarine
Cinnamon-sugar pita chips, if desired
  • 1 In 3-quart saucepan, mix apples, brown sugar, cornstarch, lemon juice and cinnamon. Heat to boiling over medium-high heat; boil 1 minute or until thickened, stirring constantly.
  • 2 Remove from heat; stir in butter until melted. Serve warm or cool with pita chips.
