Open Sesame Pie

Heavy cream, sometimes labeled heavy whipping cream, has a slightly higher fat content than whipping cream, but either will work well in this recipe. Just don't substitute light cream or half-and-half they won't whip up. For the best results, chill the bowl and beaters for at least an hour before whipping cream.

I knew Dorothy Koteen in the '60s, and she introduced me to this pie. It was wonderful. Unfortunately, I lost the recipe many years ago, so it wasn't until today that I figured out how to get it back. I made it many time back in those days, and it was enjoyed by all who ate it. Now I hope to be able to make it again....and get the same reaction!

I made this Pie years ago while in Girl Scouts and won the top prize! It was wonderful and I am so glad to have found the recipe again.

My mother made this prize winner for Christmas in 1954, and we loved it so much! She dubbed it her special Christmas dessert and made it until she was nearly 90 years old. The year after her death, one of her grandchildren tried to make Grandma''s special pie. Alas, it just wasn''t as smooth and tasty as we all remembered. Grandma''s special touch was lacking! It is still one of our family''s all-time favorite pies. Of course, we always use the special Crisco pie crust recipe made ''from scratch'' with it!
