New England Mulled Cider

Apples are bountiful in New England, and cider-making is an old tradition. This spicy hot cider will warm up chilly winter days or nights.

Ingredients

quarts (8 cups) apple cider

cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/2
teaspoon cardamom
1/2
teaspoon nutmeg
2
cinnamon sticks
Peel from 1 orange
  • 1 In large saucepan, combine all ingredients. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer 30 minutes. Remove cinnamon sticks and orange peel. Keep warm in hot pot or coffee pot.
