Drained the apples also but added the same amount of water to it and mixed in a small amount of corn starch--microwaved it and added it to the apples for the last minute of cooking. It made a fairly firm filling.

I used brown sugar instead of honey and I too drained the excess liquid. I added a tiny bit of orange zest along with fresh nutmeg. It truly made for 'good eats!'

I didn't use raisins and I also drained the excess liquid after microwaving the apples and then added a little cinnamon and nutmeg to the apples before spooning onto the dough. Came out great!

Use dried cherries or dried cranberries instead of raisins.
