EXPERT TIPS

Expert Tips

Six cups of purchased washed baby greens can be used in place of the spinach and red leaf lettuce in this salad.

Vidalia or Walla Walla onions can be used in place of the red onions. These large, pale yellow onions are exceptionally sweet, and both are named for their home-towns. Vidalia is in Georgia; Walla Walla is in Washington.

Adding edible flowers to this salad makes it extra-pretty. Pick chive, basil, thyme or oregano blossoms, from your herb garden. Or look for edible nasturtiums, pansies and violas in the produce department of the grocery store near the herbs.
