For lunch or dinner I will use the whole hot dog and split the t almost all the way and stuff with cheese and bake and serve with tater tots or french fries and add a salad and it makes a complete meal without much effort and kids love them.

I have been making this for well over 40 years I also buy regular hotdogs and cut them into 4 pieces and roll them in the dough (longer hot dogs you can cut into 5 or 6 pieces) and in a pinch you can get pillsbury flaky biscuit dough and cut each biscuit in half and roll the mini dogs in that also

I would love to eat these wonderful little hot dog bites but I just am not eating any more high fat or any hot dogs at all but my husband just loves these so I make a batch and freeze them two to a package and he just reheats them in the mic.unfortunately they don't brown up again in the mic.and the oven takes to long but he eats them anyway.

I always brown the lil smokies for these and add some cheddar cheese and a slice of poblano pepper to them. Makes them a more "adult" variety appetizer.

I love this recipe, but I like to brown the hot dogs and let them cool before placing them in the dough. I put mustard, ketchup and barbecue sauce in three seperate small dishes and my family feels like we are eating out!! Quick, inexpensive appetizers, always a hit!

The recipe for "Mini Crescent Dogs" will give you a terrific appetizer. I liked the suggestion made in the comments section of adding a Maple flavoring to the mini Hot Dogs and perhaps to the rolls as well - a neat Breakfast combination. You will have a fine time selecting the dips for the MCD served as Appetizers. Enjoy!!! :-)
