Meatball Sub-Burgers

This is a zesty burger and a home cooked roll. It is also quick to make!!

Ingredients

pounds of ground beef, pork and chicken
2/3
cup bradcrumbs
1/3
cup of chopped parsley
1/3
cup of romano cheese grated
1
egg beaten
2
cloves garlic chopped
3
tablespoons grated onion
1/2
tablespoon ground sage
pinch nutmeg
salt & pepper to taste
extra virgin olive oil
8
deli slices mild or sharp provolone cheese
1-
15 ounce can fire-roasted diced tomatoes
few basil leaves - torn up
4
home baked rolls - sourdough or ciabetta are good

  • 1 In large bowl combine the meat, breadcrumbs, parsley, Romano, egg, garlic, onion , sage, milk. season with nutmeg, salt and pepper.
  • 2 Form mixture into 4 patties. Thinner at center and thicker at edges for better cooking.
  • 3 Drizzle burgers with liberally olive oil. Place in skillet and cook for 10 minutes. Then top burgers with provolone cheese
  • 4 In another sauce pan heat the tomatoes. Stir in basil and oregano. Season with salt and pepper.
  • 5 Bake the rolls of your choice in the meantime. When done place burgers on rolls and the sauce on the burgers.
