About Lunch

Back in the era when agriculture was predominate, the noon-time meal was the largest and most filling meal of the day. These days, lunch is typically lighter, but the mid-day break still serves to rejuvinate with nourishing food to sustain you throughout the remainder of the day. Make lunch a meal to look forward to again with tasty alternatives to a predictable sandwich!

Tips & Tricks

Not home to cook your own lunch? Make it and take it with some handy tips:

  • To avoid soggy or compacted salad on the go, pack ingredients separately, then assemble just before eating.
  • Pack salad dressing in a sealed container, then ensure leak-proof transit by placing it in a reusable zippered plastic food storage bag.
  • Salad is fine on the commute in to work, but refrigerate after arriving to keep leafy vegetables from wilting.
  • Pasta is great reheated. Make extra for dinner and pack for lunches at work. Mix with sauce and top with grated cheese for a lunch that will taste and smell like you just made it!
  • For a different take on sandwiches, grill a deli-meat and cheese sandwich at home with a pannini sandwich grill or over the stove. Cool, wrap and chill. For lunch, heat a small dish of your favorite barbecue sauce to bring your sandwich to life.
  • If you have a lunch buddy, split up the lunch detail, with one of you bringing the main dish and the other bringing a side dish. Not only do you save money by not eating out, but you also add variety to your lunch break!
