LOCATION

Directions

  • 1 Heat closed medium-size contact grill for 5 minutes. Position drip tray to catch drippings.
  • 2 Meanwhile, in large bowl, mix all ingredients except bacon. On work surface, pat mixture into 7-inch square. Cut into 4 (3 1/2-inch) squares.
  • 3 When grill is heated, place beef squares on grill. Top each square with 2 half-slices bacon. Close grill; cook 6 to 10 minutes or until squares are thoroughly cooked and no longer pink in center and bacon is browned.

EXPERT TIPS

Expert Tips

Use Italian-style bread crumbs for a different flavor. You could also use pizza or spaghetti sauce for the ketchup.

Center-cut bacon has had the fatty ends cut off. You can use slices of regular bacon--just trim about 3/4 inch off of each end. The half-strips should just cover the surface of each beef square.

Contact grill is George Foreman or similar type. I agree that it needs stronger cheese! I used blue cheese (low fat), egg beaters, and precooked bacon to lessen the fat. Delicious!

doflexas - A contact grill is like a George Foreman indoor grill. It is called contact because the grill cooks from both the top and bottom.

What is a contact grill............Not sure I know or ever heard of one.

I want to try this but just gave my contact grill to my daughter. Don't see why you couldn't fry the bacon, cool it, break into small pieces and add it to the beef mixture and cook it on a grill pan. Could even fry it like a burger or bake it in the oven.

We put foil on our grill outside and tried this out- it stuck horribly and needed more time to cook...the bacon added an element of grease that lit the grill on fire...it ended up in the oven...
