Add 1/2 cup of onions; cut in half and sliced thin.
Fry 5-6 slices bacon very crisp, remove from pan and set aside.
Pour off all but 2 TBS of the grease left in pan, use that to saute the onions and peppers then add green beans and cook until beans are tender-crisp.
You can also use turkey instead of ham.
I also add 1/2 cup of mushrooms to pan with onions and peppers.
There really is hundreds of way to do the dish and it always turns out GREAT!

I made this recipe first at Christmas and it was great. There wasn't one green bean or red pepper left. In fact my daughter-in-law was begging me to make another batch so she could take some home for lunch the next day.(I gave her the recipe.)
I have made this many times since and it seems to get better each time. I have add onions to it, used bacon instead of ham and no matter what I do it is always DELICIOUS!
