lb lean (at least 80%) ground beef
1/2
cup finely chopped onion (1 medium)

cup diced fresh sweet potato
1/2
cup Irish stout
1/2
teaspoon salt
1/8
teaspoon pepper

can (16.3 oz) Pillsbury® Grands!® Flaky Layers original refrigerated biscuits

  • 1 Heat oven to 375°F. Grease cookie sheet with shortening or cooking spray.
  • 2 In 10-inch skillet, cook beef and onion over medium heat 8 to 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until beef is thoroughly cooked; drain. Stir in sweet potato, stout, salt and pepper. Heat to boiling. Reduce heat; cover and simmer about 8 minutes or until vegetables are tender. Uncover; cook 1 to 2 minutes longer or until liquid is evaporated.
  • 3 Separate dough into 8 biscuits. Press or roll each to form 6-inch round. Place on cookie sheet. Spoon about 1/4 cup meat mixture onto center of each round. Fold dough in half over filling; press with fork to seal.
  • 4 Bake 12 to 15 minutes or until golden brown.

Love this recipe! Added a few things like peas but I love it with the yams. Didn't have any Irish stout so I used hoegarden ( what I had on hand) and it was awesome.... Dipped it in some deli mustard and it was perfect!

This was quick fast and very tasty. As I had no ale or sweet potatoes, I used carrots and sweet peas and for the ale I used Dawns Mushroom Sauce. What we are going to do next time is to infuse the biscuit dough when we roll out the dough. We will put parsley, scallions and sprinkle black or red pepper on the dough itself. Thanks for this recipes
