Ingredients

  • 1 lb. lean ground turkey
  • 1/2 cup refrigerated shredded hash brown potatoes
  • 1/4 cup sliced green onions
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 1/4 teaspoon seasoned salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise or salad dressing, if desired
  • 4 whole wheat hamburger buns, split
  • 4 lettuce leaves
  • 4 slices tomato, if desired

Steps

  • 1
In medium bowl, combine all ingredients except mayonnaise, buns and lettuce; mix well. Shape into 4 (1/2-inch-thick) patties. Place patties on broiler pan.
  • 2
Broil 4 to 6 inches from heat for 8 to 10 minutes or until thermometer inserted in center of patties reads 165°F.
  • 3
Spread mayonnaise on cut sides of buns. Place lettuce, turkey burgers and tomato on bottom halves of buns. Cover with top halves of buns.

  • It's easy to shape meat patties with a burger press available at kitchen specialty stores. This handy gadget quickly forms patties of uniform thickness. If you don't have one, use a 1/2-cup measuring cup for each patty, and press the meat with your fingers to the required thickness.
