Ingredients

  • 1 lb. lean ground turkey
  • 1/2 cup refrigerated shredded hash brown potatoes
  • 1/4 cup sliced green onions
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 1/4 teaspoon seasoned salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise or salad dressing, if desired
  • 4 whole wheat hamburger buns, split
  • 4 lettuce leaves
  • 4 slices tomato, if desired

Steps

    In medium bowl, combine all ingredients except mayonnaise, buns and lettuce; mix well. Shape into 4 (1/2-­inch-­thick) patties. Place patties on broiler pan.

    Broil 4 to 6 inches from heat for 8 to 10 minutes or until thermometer inserted in center of patties reads 165°F.

    Spread mayonnaise on cut sides of buns. Place lettuce, turkey burgers and tomato on bottom halves of buns. Cover with top halves of buns.

    It's easy to shape meat patties with a burger press available at kitchen specialty stores. This handy gadget quickly forms patties of uniform thickness. If you don't have one, use a 1/2-cup measuring cup for each patty, and press the meat with your fingers to the required thickness.
