Ingredients

  • 4 frozen 97% fat-free baked breaded fish fillets or patties
  • 1/3 cup fat-free mayonnaise or salad dressing
  • 1 tablespoon pickle relish
  • 2 whole wheat sandwich buns, split, toasted
  • 2 (3/4-oz.) slices light American cheese

Steps

  • 1
Prepare fish fillets as directed on package.
  • 2
Meanwhile, in small bowl, combine mayonnaise and relish; mix well. Spread cut sides of buns with mayonnaise mixture. Place 2 fish fillets on bottom of each bun; top with cheese and cover with top of bun.

  • We’ve compared this recipe to the fish sandwich available at fast-food restaurants. Fast-food fish sandwiches contain batter-coated, fried fish fillets, American cheese, tartar sauce and are served on a white bread bun.
  • Fat-free tartar sauce can be used in place of the mayonnaise-pickle relish mixture.
  • To make Chicken Fillet Sandwiches, use frozen baked, breaded chicken breast fillets in place of the fish fillets. Omit the pickle relish. Spread the toasted buns with fat-free mayonnaise or salad dressing and top the chicken fillets with cheese, lettuce and tomato.
