You should brown the meat on all sides first before placing in the slow cooker, it will taste better.

Kittylitter100 - did you add the onion soup mix and cranberry sauce to this recipe- or did you substitute it for the Progresso starter sauce?

I make this recipe using 2lbs meat, package of onion soup mix and 1 can of cranberry sauce and cook it on high for 8 hours. You can add carrots half way through if you want. I like it with mashed potatoes. It's delicious and easy.

Does anyone recommend browning the outside of the roast before putting it in the slow cooker?

I am assuming that the "3/4 lb" potatoes and "1/2 lb" carrots is actually 3 to 4 lbs potatoes and 1 to 2 lbs of carrots. Right?!

Won't even attempt this even though others "love" it until I know the nutritional values. Watching the sodium content is a must for my husband's diet.

This came out fork tender & had a wonderful flavor due to the PROGRESSO Recipe Starter-fire roasted tomato. My husband loved it & asked me to make again very soon. I had a hard time finding the cooking sauce by Progresso, but was worth it. Won't make it without it as I look at it as the "secret" ingredient for sure :)

This was absolutely delicious! My husband & I loved it! The meat was so juicy & tender & had the best flavor due to the Progresso. I will definitely make this again & very soon. This made 2 days of meals for us. I shredded the roast up after 1st meal like pulled pork & poured the juices over it to put in fridge. Next day came out just like the 1st day, juicy & not dry.
