This is a keeper. My husband raved about it, which is unusual! I followed the recipe almost the way it's written, but I used the veggies I had. Some fresh, some frozen, some canned. (I also added a couple dashes of garlic powder) And since my husband loves Lima beans, I put them in also! Great for a cold night, served with Pillsbury, fresh out of the oven bread of your choice!

I also make a version of this. We always called it "clean out the fridge vegetable soup", because basically you can add most anything to it. I like butterbeans in mine and no carrots with a little bit of elbow macaroni. I would include everything else though. When my Mom made it, she threw in every leftover we had, cubed steak, spaghetti-its pretty fool-proof and it goes great with a grilled cheese sandwich or cornbread.

I did not enjoy this. I have a similar recipe that I really enjoy, so I thought I would like this. I think it was the Worcestershire Sauce that ruined it for me, it gave it a odd flavor. Will not be making again.

I've been making this soup for yrs, got the recipe from my now 94 yr old grandmother. As someone suggested I also add a couple bay leaves and some dried basil, also good to add is some minced garlic and barley (I get the kind that comes in a box like oatmeal, reminds me of the old Campbell's vegetable beef) and for a nice kick instead of diced tomatoes try a can of rotel. Also I throw in whatever veggies I have on hand, it's a good way to use some that are looking a little sad and wrinkly, they will plump right up. I have also made this several times with ground turkey, just added low sodium b
