I dont even take the top of. Just boil the can in water for teo hours or so and cool completely before opening.

I LOVE dulche de leche flavors - and can't wait to make this. Did you know you can take sweetened condensed milk, take the whole top off ( instead of just punching holes in it) take the label off, and put it in a pan of water, bring it to a boil - let it boil until the milk has become thick, and you have made your own caramelized milk? It is soooo good! And this is a good way to use up the leftover cans of SCM from Christmas baking ;0)
