Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup margarine or butter, softened
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 egg white
  • 1 cup All Purpose Flour
  • 3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Steps

    Heat oven to 375°F. In large bowl, beat brown sugar and margarine until light and fluffy. Add vanilla and egg white; blend well.

    Lightly spoon flour into measuring cup; level of. Add flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt; mix well. Stir in chocolate chips. Drop by teaspoonfuls 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheets.

    Bake at 375°F. for 8 to 9 minutes or until set. DO NOT OVERBAKE. Cool 1 minute; remove from cookie sheets.

    * If desired, cookies can be glazed. To make glaze, in small bowl combine 1/2 cup powdered sugar, 1 1/2 teaspoons skim milk, 2 drops vanilla and, if desired, 2 drops butter flavor. Stir to blend; drizzle glaze over cookies.
