Ingredients

1/2: cup firmly packed brown sugar

1/4: cup margarine or butter, softened

1/2: teaspoon vanilla

1: egg white

1: cup All Purpose Flour

3: tablespoons unsweetened cocoa

1/2: teaspoon baking soda

1/8: teaspoon salt

1/2: cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Directions

1 Heat oven to 375°F. In large bowl, beat brown sugar and margarine until light and fluffy. Add vanilla and egg white; blend well.
2 Lightly spoon flour into measuring cup; level of. Add flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt; mix well. Stir in chocolate chips. Drop by teaspoonfuls 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheets.
3 Bake at 375°F. for 8 to 9 minutes or until set. DO NOT OVERBAKE. Cool 1 minute; remove from cookie sheets.

The addition of cocoa boosts the chocolate flavor of these lower-fat chocolate chip cookies.

* If desired, cookies can be glazed. To make glaze, in small bowl combine 1/2 cup powdered sugar, 1 1/2 teaspoons skim milk, 2 drops vanilla and, if desired, 2 drops butter flavor. Stir to blend; drizzle glaze over cookies.
