Like the other reviews have stated, it certainly does not taste like Shepard's pie. Especially because I used chicken instead of beef. However, the recipe TASTES great. It was just poorly named! I also used the small biscuits instead of the dough sheet. It turned out fantastic!

The tomato sauce does not go with this dish. I tried beef gravy and mushroom soup and came out better. Left out the italian seasoning. I don't know why this is called shepherds pie. It does not resemble shepherds pie when made with tomato sauce and italian seasoning.

made this with crescent rolls and grands. both are good, but personally grands are easier and better. my picky eaters rated this a 5 and so did I. this is really, really good and easy. i used chicken instead of meat.
