I made this last night and used extra lean ground beef, reduced fat cheese and reduced fat crescents. It was just as good as the original!

I hve made this recipe numerous times and while the original may be high in fat, there are ways to eliminate the fat and still make it enjoyable without the guilt. This is for the person who made the comments comparing it to fast food. Start by using extra lean ground beef or turkey, then use low fat cheese, reduced fat crescents, egg white for the wash, and only eat a small portion. Eat with a green salad, and it's truly not all that bad for you. By rinsing the meat prior to finishing off the casserole you've eliminated some of the fat, and if you're really worried, add beans that are mashed

I made this last night, and we (my roommate and I) loved it. I went light on the condiments, since my roomie isn't a big fan, and she gave it a big thumbs up. She's not exactly a picky eater, but I have a hard time getting her to try the new recipes that I enjoy trying. I liked it too, but thought it could have used a little more flavor.
I left out the water, figuring that the condiments contain enough liquid, and I'm glad I did that. I also skipped the egg wash and sesame seeds, since I didn't have those handy.
I forgot to put the cheese over the meat mixture before I put the crescents

Loved this recipe. The flavors go so well together and it is a real kid pleaser. I will be making this again and again

I love this dish. The sour of the dill pickles mixed with the buttery sweetness of the crescent rolls makes this so tasty! I continue to make this again and again!

This was a wonderful weeknight meal. I used 1/4 tsp of onion powder because I didn't have an onion on hand & 1/4 tsp steak seasoning as seasoning for the ground beef (just to jazz it up) & it was so tasty! I also used dill pickle relish instead of chopped pickles.

This is one of our favorites. I add a little horseradish to give it more flavor though I like the idea of adding bacon as others have suggested. One pound of hamburger doesn't seem to be enough though; it's very thin. Also, watch the crescent topping--I find it takes less than the cooking time suggested.

I always use ground turkey 70/30 in place of ground beef and sharp shredded cheddar. It was disappointedly blah. It tasted like sloppy joes under the crescent topping. Not bad but not exciting either. Blessings to you.
