Crescent Corn Dogs

cans (8 oz each) Pillsbury® refrigerated crescent dinner rolls or 2 cans (8 oz each) Pillsbury® Crescent Recipe Creations® refrigerated seamless dough sheet
2
tablespoons yellow cornmeal
8
hot dogs
2
teaspoons mustard or ketchup

Directions

  • 1 Separate or cut each can of dough into quarters (if using crescent rolls, press perforations to seal). Press one side of each rectangle into cornmeal.
  • 2 Spread mustard on other side of each rectangle. Place hot dog on short end of each rectangle, mustard side up. Roll up; pinch edge to seal. Place seam side down on ungreased cookie sheet.
  • 3 Bake at 375°F 12 to 15 minutes.

To serve as appetizers, prepare and cook as directed. Before serving, slice each finished roll into 6 to 8 sections and insert tooth pick into dough side of each. Optional: serve on platter with extra bowl of mustard/relish/liquid cheese for dipping.

Excellent - I tweaked the recipe a bit because the grandkids had eaten all the hot dogs in the fridge. I used hot pepper & spinach sausages (made of chicken) and cooked them til warm & browned on the cooktop; spread 2 of those superb Pillsbury crescent sheets with Grey Poupon & 2 with a sweet German mustard, topped with the sausages - 15 minutes later there was a lunch my husband raved over. Will definitely make again.

these were very good but for an "adult" version..try adding roasted tomatoes and roasted bell peppers!!
