I orginally made the cake as it was the first time I made it, but it was too tall. So this time around I used two torte pans to bake the brownie/cake in. Yes the strawberry mix was thick, but if you gently spread it onto the brownie mix you should have no problems. After the cakes baked and cooled I put the sliced strawberries and the filling into the center of the torte since when baking a torte the cake has a lip around it so the filling stays in the middle perfectly then I added another layer of strawberries then put the other torte cake brownie side down. The cake was a perfect size not to

I made this cake to test for my daughters first birthday and my hubby, who NEVER eats cake because he just finds it dry...LOVED this cake and begged me to make it again !! I even found out he brags about it to his friends!! so needless to say this cake has already been made TWICE in our house (of non-cake-eaters) and is being made again for this up coming week-end for our daughters birthday and everyone who is coming is looking forward to this amazing cake they've only heard about and seen pictures of !! I had NO difficulty with the brownie and then strawberry cake on top of it, everything ju

This is my daughter's new favorite cake. I have made it three times now. I too had trouble spreading the strawberry cake. I now use my muffin scoop or ice cream scoop to place the cake over the brownie in 5 or 6 places and this is much easier to spread without messing up the brownie layer. I substituted real whipped cream for the frozen whipped topping and it worked great and tastes wonderful.

Like a couple of others, I had issues getting the strawberry batter to spread evenly over the brownie batter. Since my cakes baked in 20 minutes, I wonder if I can slightly bake the brownies (maybe 5-10 minutes) and then spread the strawberry batter over the top and finish baking it. The filling was so delicious, we saved it for ice cream topping. My strawberries also released some juice and it oozed out the icing. It was weird but still tasted great.

Oh dear, I have this cake partially made for company tonight and it looks horrible. The strawberry mix was so thick I had a terrible time spreading it over the brownie layer and some of the brownie layer was oozing into the strawberry part. What did I do wrong and is there a secret here that you girls aren't sharing??????? Think I'm going to have to regroup and prepare a second dessert but I'm running out of time.

I wanted to make my son a birthday cake and he requested a brownie instead of a cake. He changed his mind when he saw this cake! I did have a hard time putting the strawberry cake batter over the brownie batter evenly... the batter was quite thick and it didn't spread evenly. One of the layers was a bit lopsided due to this, but once I covered it in the frosting, it wasn't too noticeable. The finished cake is very tall! I couldn't fit it in my domed cake platter, so I had to just put it on a cookie sheet. Everyone loved it- it was so delicious. Very light and not overly sweet.

I won the annual baking contest with this. It was polished off by the judges in no time!

It was very good however next time I would leave out the brownie. Several people at work tried it and they all said it would taste better with just the strawberry cake and creme and I agree. It kinda distracted from the strawberry flavor.I would definitely make it again minus the brownie. The creme filling is wonderful.
