Expert Tips

If you forget to remove your cookies from the cookie sheets in time and the cookies seem to stick, pop the whole sheet back in the hot oven for a minute or two. The heat should soften the cookies slightly, making them easier to remove.

I love this recipe! A slight variation was published in the late 1950's. There were 8 different varieties to make from this "base" cookie dough: Butter Crispies, Snowballs, Butter Fingers, Trixie Treats, Butter Thinsies, Chocolate Mint Creams, Jewel Clusters and Molasseds Spice-eez. My dad saved it and we made these every year. I now have the aging article, with all it's tears & tape. I put butter icing & sprinkles.

The recipe "reads" like a good sugar cookie base to decorate like a package with icing and candy details. It is most unfortunate that there is no picture. I'll bake them and get back to you.
